  1. Have you considered coming to the Ottawa region? There are 3 climbing gyms, 2 of which I am sure would want to host you. Please see the links below with the contact person to talk too:

Altitude Gym (Gatineau, Quebec), speak with Adrian Das, lead trainer and gym manager http://altitudegym.ca/en/contact

Vertical Reality (Ottawa, Ontario), speak with Petra Slivka, Gym Owner or with Dave Bursey, Gym Manager (?) http://www.verticalreal.com/contact/index_e.php

    Thanks! V.

  2. Hi Vero, Thanks for making contact. I believe I will be at both of those gyms. Dominic at Attitude Montagne contacted gyms in Ottawa, and if I remember from the last email, those are on the schedule. We’ll be nailing it down soon. Arno

  3. What will the clinic cover? I am interested in it, but not sure if it is for me? I do climb top rope, and lead indoors, and looking to lead outdoors very soon. But I am curious to what I will learn and benefit from this, as well what does this indoor clinic entail?

  4. Hi Bryan, Thanks for your questions. Here are the details:

  5. Hi there,

The per-requisites you’ve outlined don’t include any lead experience; however, i assume that the falling aspect of the course deals specifically with lead falls as they tend to be the most intimidating. Does the course offer an introduction to lead climbing as well, or what type of falls can be expected?

    Thank you,
    TM

  6. Hi Ted, Thanks for your question. Being able to lead is NOT a requirement. Yes, lead falls are most intimidating, but we begin with toprope falls and progress slowly, making sure the student is developing comfort with falling. And, if one has no leading experience one will not be able to develop enough falling experience during the clinic to progress to lead falls. They will however gain much practice of what to pay attention to so they can continue to practice and eventually do lead falls.
It is extremely important to progress slowly and 4 hours during the clinic isn’t enough time for someone who has no leading or falling experience. Does this answer your question? I think you’d gain plenty from the clinic. Arno

  7. I just completed the training at Rock Oasis in Toronto this past weekend. It was amazing and learned so much to improve my climbing skills and take it to the next level mentally.
