I began working with Heather Weidner a year ago to refine her mental game. She experienced some distractions of her attention due to frustration and being self critical, behaviors driven by her motivation. It would be important to dig into her motivation to improve her mental game.

Heather was a bit wary about doing this; she was concerned that she’d lose her motivation for climbing. Last month, a year after we began working together, I asked her to write about her motivation. Has it shifted in a way that’s more helpful? Has she lost her motivation for climbing or has it increased? How has it changed and why?
