Hanina grew up in New York and moved with his family at a young age to Israel.
He got into climbing in 1980, through ropes access and rescue training, while serving in the israeli army. At that time, you could count the local climbers on you and your partner’s fingers and toes, minus a hand or foot.
Hanina is a certified rock-climbing guide of the Israel Climbing Federation (UIAA accredited) and a Ph. ed. teacher, working with children of special needs.
Besides pioneering routes on neighboring Sinai granite in Egypt, Hanina has guided extensively on Wadi Rum sandstone in Jordan. Back home, in Israel, Hanina teaches climbers of all levels, at the limestone crags, sport and trad.
Having been initiated through old school dogmas of “the leader never falls”, it took some time to transition and evolve into the modern era of bolted sport climbing. Hanina found relevancy in the Warrior’s Way material in both no-fall and yes-fall situations. Thus began his journey to become a Warrior’s Way trainer.
Hanina is psyched to bring the Warrior’s Way to the ever-growing climbing community in Israel.
